Found out today that Canadian actor Ryan Gosling received a Best Actor Academy Award nomination for his role in "Half Nelson." Saw that film at Milwaukee's legendary Oriental Theatre some months back and was awed by it. Gosling is an inner city social studies/history teacher well versed in class dynamics a la Howard Zinn, yet hounded by personal demons.
