Rapture Riders
NPR's "All Songs Considered" this week features a new track from Blondie's soon to be released Greatest Hits CD. The track is a DJ Mark Vidler mix of Blondie's "Rapture" with The Doors' "Riders on the Storm." I think it's pretty cool. Go to the NPR site to find the link to "Rapture Riders."

Okay, it's pretty cool but it's like a completely new thing. It's interesting and hypnotic kind of and the blending is really impressive. But the sum of the parts is so vastly different it almost defies any real comparison to the originals.
The mood in the mash-up is neither the eerie and vaguely threatening druggy Morrison thing or the lazily erotic, vacuous Blondie mood.
So, completely new deal, which does stand alone in an odd way but still calls to mind the comparatively greater intensity and less calculated quality of the two originals.
Awesome! I see a new career for me as a pretentious music critic. A whole new set of people for me to alienate. That's it, I'm outta here.
