Palmeri on Friday WPR "Week in Review"

I will be appearing as leftish guy on Joy Cardin's "Week in Review" on Friday from 8 - 9 a.m. The rightish guy will be Kevin Hermening, Chair of the Marathon County GOP. Kevin was held hostage in Iran during the 1979 crisis.

Ask him if he recognizes Ahmadinejad. When Ahmadinejad took office there were many reports that he may have been one of the hostage-takers in Iran in 1979. I recall they showed lots of pictures of a guy next to pictures of Ahmadinejad and they looked similar. But then again, many of those Iranians look alike...in theory...just watch "Not without my daughter" starring Sally Fields...

I would also be curious if he blames Ronald Reagan for prolonging his release due to the purported "deal" arranged between the Ayatollah and Reagan to ensure the hostages weren't released until after Reagan took office. If you recall, the hostages were released within 48 hours of Reagan's swearing in, over two months after he was elected. Reagan, the story goes, didn't want to let Carter take credit for the hostage release despite the fact he had already defeated Carter in November.

Is there any resentment of the fact that Reagan's partisan politics resulted in an additional 60 days of captivity? I'm just curious, I certainly can't identify or have any idea what it must have been like to be held captive for what, 500 days? Maybe 60 more didn't matter?
