This just in from city attorney Lynn Lorenson:
"Per the request of the petitioner, Resolution 08-233 Authorize Preparation of Tax Increment District Project Plan for EAA is being withdrawn from the Council Agenda for tomorrow's meeting."
I'm sure we have not heard the last of this.
Many thanks to all the citizens who are making it very difficult for this common council to be a rubber stamp, business as usual outfit.

What was the official reason for the withdrawl?
CJ,
I don't think we were provided with any official reason. All I know is what was published in the Northwestern.
My guess is that there were probably two factors at work: (1) a city council passing a tax benefit a week after half the city suffered flood damage was probably recognized by all of the key players as not the best timing; (2) EAA probably does not want to move forward with this proposal until they know in advance that there are 4 votes on the council for it. When Paul Esslinger--probably the biggest fan of EAA on the council--told the newspaper he would not support the proposal in its current form, it did not take an aviation scientist to figure out that the chance of passage was slight.
