Lori and I got a chance to see the critically acclaimed "Once" over the weekend. It's a simple, touching love story/musical without a predictable Hollywood-type ending. The songs are magnificent. Between Once and "Hairspray," this has been a pretty good year for film and music.

I couldn't agree more with you. I've seen it three times myself, and I had the soundtrack months before it finally came to the area. It's the best movie I've seen this year, hands down. I'm glad to see so many people taking advantage of independent films that squeak into our area unannounced. All three screenings I've attended were at least half-full. There are opening weekend mainstream films I've seen that didn't have that kind of attendance.
